Welcome to my portfolio! I’ve always been very interested in digital marketing and that’s the main reason why I decided to major in Communications & Media as well as Digital Marketing. I’m the type of person that is constantly trying to learn more in this space as digital marketing is constantly evolving and I feel as though digital marketing is the way of the future as more and more people are choosing to do their research online as opposed to speaking with salespeople. 

I’m the type of person that is constantly trying to learn new ways to further optimize marketing funnels as I always feel there is room for improvement to provide a better return on investment when it comes to marketing spend. 

I’ve been fortunate enough to gain work experience in Social, Email, PPC and SEO Marketing. Where I’ve been able to learn best practices in how to optimize marketing funnels quickly and how to generate leads in the most efficient manner possible.

My portfolio is based on current and past coursework within the realms of digital marketing and communication & media. I've gone ahead and included the guidelines for most, if not all of the projects included, that way my readers can understand the full scope of my work.

Digital Marketing: Brand Strategy Assignment

Generation USA Assignment

We were tasked by our mock Marketing Manager to develop a digital strategy and digital marketing (DM) plan, and then to do a client pitch presentation to Christopher John Rogers.

Guidelines

Session 1: Strategic Analysis Conduct research on the company, and use the frameworks learned to analyze the company, target consumer, and product. This includes:

  • Company SWOT analysis
  • Customer analysis using personas, empathy maps, and/or customer journey maps
  • Product analysis using a perception map or other selected tools

Session 2: Branding
Conduct research and understand the Christopher John Rogers brand:

  • Brand identity and image
  • Brand positioning
  • Value proposition

Session 3: An Initial DM Plan Draw upon your knowledge and research to write a comprehensive digital marketing plan for the Christopher John Rogers brand.

  • Your plan should consist of:
    • SMART Objectives
    • KPIs
    • Unique Selling Proposition (USP)
    • Copy and content strategy
    • 2 Marketing actions and channels
    • Budget breakdown
    • Timeline
    • Measurement (metrics and tracking)

Media Assignment: Video Editing

Generation USA Assignment

We had to recreate a video using the materials provided. 

Guideline: The provided source video has missing subtitles and images. Edit the video based on the requirements below:

  • The “Depression” title should appear for 8 seconds at the beginning of the video and transition to the first image provided in the video.
  • Include subtitles for all the voice-over in the video.
  • Find and insert relevant images into the clip and make sure there is no blank or black screen.
  • Have transitions in between each image.
  • Adjust the volume of voiceover and background music:
  • While voice-over is playing, volume of background music should be lower and resume full volume when there is no voiceover.
  • Export in MP4 format

Media Assignment: Podcast Script

Communication & Media Assignment 

Guideline: Create a script for a podcast that reviews the course materials from this week (the death of CD's) and then covers another medium that has recently been undergoing change or disruption. Print Books? Print Newspapers? Magazines? Network (ABC, NBC, CBS) TV? Broadcast Radio? Big Hollywood Studio Movies (and movie theaters)? Go ahead and alert your listeners to the plight of the medium you chose. 

1. This assignment should be a script for a podcast. It should be 3-4 minutes long if you speak it. In practice the script should be 2-4 double spaced pages. Make sure you read it aloud before you submit to make sure.  

2. Introduce the name of the podcast. (You can be creative with this or straightforward - whatever suits you.)

3. Spend a moment introducing your audience to what you learned this week. How and why are CDs disappearing?

4. Introduce your readers to a dying medium of your choice (newspapers, magazines, etc)

5. Briefly describe a few key points in the history of this medium.
6. Find some statistics to show that the medium is indeed dying. Include them in your script.

7. What new medium threatens the old one. Can the old medium be saved?

Media Assignment: Social Media Campaign

We were asked to use a Twitter or Instagram account to attract new followers. 

Guideline:

1. Use a Twitter or Instagram account that has a meaningful and consistent profile--it should have a profile picture, a background photo, and a profile description.

2. Do not follow other accounts to get followers. 

3. Decide on a campaign--what kind of message do you want to project, and what kind of followers do you want to get? For example, you could decide to do a campaign about how individuals could use less plastic, and you might want to attract followers who are interested in environmental charities and organizations. Write out a brief (75 word) description of what message you want to communicate, and what audience you want to appeal to--be as specific as possible. 

4. Create a minimum of 3 posts/tweets and 1 comment on another user's post. Your posts/tweet and comment must use all four strategies described above. Your posts must include an original photo or video. 

Description:

I created a campaign about Black History Month. Primarily based on areas that require improvement within my cultural community. Each post has a focus which include community-based needs (leadership, partnerships, youth support and family resources), family health-based needs (mental health awareness, safety concerns, parenting skills and workshops) and finally, professional development-based needs (representation, diversity in the workplace, and limited opportunity). Each post is quoted by a prominent figure in black history, specifically relating to each theme within the campaign. The target audience consists of organizations that can help people of color, and the majority of the black community.

As far as engagement goes, I went from no followers to 5 followers in about 4 hours. I reached 33 accounts within 5 hours of posting. 10 accounts interacted with the content across all three posts, and I received 2 comments on the first two posts; suggesting that I promote the content on another Instagram account. 

When I took a look at the suggested accounts, they were relatable to the themes that I initially displayed. Next time I would do more research to gain better insight on resources that are available.

Brand Strategy

Communication & Media Assignment. 

We were asked to create a presentation based on two brands,  one strong brand and one failing brand. 

These were the requirements for the assignment:  

1. Pick one successful brand.
2. Using a similar strategy to week #1, do a very brief overview both companies. Have they been recently acquired by another company? Do they own other brands? What is the story of their success/failure? Look for news articles that point out what is or has happened to the company.

3. What is each company's branding strategy? What audience are/were they targeting?

4. Diagnose the brands. Why do you think the strong brand is doing well? Why do you think the weak brand is failing or failed?

5. What lessons can the weaker brand learn from the stronger brand? If you were a public relations manager what kind of branding strategy would you suggest for the weaker company? How would you save them?

Social Media Assignment: IG Business Page

As a META certified Digital Marketing Associate we were taught to use visuals for branding strategies in order to establish the look and feel of an Instagram business page. We also were guided on how to create mobile-friendly photos and videos to make content stand out on Instagram.

Generation USA Assignment - This assignment is focused on thinking through options for optimizing off-page SEO performance.

Guidelines

Review the Classified Cars website you made for the on-page SEO assignment in the previous technical module, and write a comprehensive strategy for off-page SEO to optimise your website.

Create a PowerPoint presentation that outlines the proposed off-page SEO strategy and includes the following components:

  • The overall business goals of your website
  • An in-depth link building strategy
  • Any special steps you want to take for mobile, international, or local SEO
  • A strategy for avoiding bad links

Digital Marketing Assignment: Marketing Channels & Strategies

This was an assignment a part of  my Generation USA experience while training to become a certified digital marketing analyst. We were asked to imagine ourselves on the marketing team at Coca-Cola. It was our task to help the company launch a new kind of soda, by deciding how to best market this new soda! 

The requirements for this project were as follows:  

Think about the marketing channels available to you and make recommendations on the marketing channels that Coca-Cola should use to promote a new kind of soda.

  • Create a PowerPoint presentation (max 10 slides) that outlines and justifies your group’s choice of marketing channels that Coca-Cola might use to promote this new type of soda.
